What is the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards 2017?

The Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards represents the most prestigious form of recognition for companies in Singapore on Corporate Sustainability. The Awards recognise organisations that have demonstrated excellence in sustainability, and highlight standards for those aspiring to better their sustainability practices.

Who is the organiser?

The Awards is organised by Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) who is the local chapter of the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest Corporate Sustainability initiative. It is also the national body responsible for promoting Corporate Sustainability in Singapore.

What is the difference between the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards, GCNS Singapore Apex CSR Awards and SBF Singapore Sustainability Awards?

The main difference is in the judging criteria between the three awards. Both the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards and Singapore Apex CSR Award are by Global Compact Network Singapore, while the Singapore Sustainability Award was organised by the Singapore Business Federation. In 2016, the Awards by both organisations merged and it became the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Award. The first run of the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Award took place in 2016.

Who can apply?

The Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards are open to companies registered in Singapore who have exceptional practices in sustainability and clean technology. The Awards is further subdivided into the Large Organisation Category and the Small and Medium Organisation Category. According to SPRING Singapore, SMEs are defined as companies with Annual Sales turnover of not more than S$100 million OR Employment of not more than 200 workers.

The deadline is on 31 May 2017, Wednesday.

How do I submit my application form?

Save the form and all supporting documents in a zip file, and email to Amirah Senin (Ms) at amirah.senin@csrsingapore.org. Please state clearly in the email subject heading in the following format: [Submission]_[Category]_[Company Name].

Can I participate in both Sustainable Business and Clean Technology categories?

Yes, you can. You will need to submit different application forms for both categories.

Is there any entry fee?

No, application for the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Award is free.

How will the entries be judged?

At the preliminary round, the Knowledge Partners and GCNS will review all entries. The five shortlisted applicants based on the highest mean score from each sub-category will proceed to the final judging phase. In the final judging, 5 esteemed judges from the business community, academia and government will judge the final presentation. To find out more about the judges profile, please click here.

If I have participated in previous Awards, am I eligible to take part again?

Yes you may participate again. However do note that organisations can only be accorded the “Apex Winner” title once. Thus, if your company has attained the Apex Winner title before, the highest that you may be awarded is “winner” for the following years.

I have some questions regarding my application. Who can help me?

What are the key dates that I need to be aware of?

As a client of KPMG’s sustainability advisory service and/or Frost & Sullivan’s clean technology advisory service, can I still participate in the Awards as they are both on the judging panel?

Yes you can. However, the judges from these 2 advisory service providers will not participate in the final judging. This is to avoid situations where there is a conflict of interest or biases, if any. The judging will be done by the other judges for the respective category.

What happens during Site Recce?

At the site recce, representations of GCNS and the knowledge partners will clarify any questions that they may have regarding the application. We may also ask to review documents, systems or operations on site.

What happens during Final Judging?

Finalists are required to give a 15 minutes presentation to the judges followed by a Q&A session. Prior to this day, the final judging criteria will be provided to guide the presentation outline.

When and where will the Awards presentation be held?

The Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards presentation will be held on 8 November 2017 at the PARKROYAL on Pickering.
